Overview
The Department of Botany recently merged with the Department
of Zoology to create a new dynamic and integrated department, which
continues to offer
undergraduate and graduate degrees through the College
of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College
of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University
of Florida. The undergraduate degree program in Botany leads to a Bachelor
of Science (B.S.), and has several track options. The graduate programs in
Botany lead to Master of Science (MS) with thesis, Master of Science in
Teaching (MST, non-thesis degree) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
Botany PhD programs typically fall into one of the three areas: ecology,
molecular biology/genetics/biochemistry, and systematics. While most
study programs are within a single discipline, we strongly encourage
interdisciplinary approaches. A herbarium and other collections are housed
nearby in the Florida Museum of Natural
History. This overview page, as well
as the rest of the Departmental web pages, will be linked to a new
departmental web page in the near future (mid to late Fall 2008).
